Martyn has served at St George’s since 1996 and been the Rector since 2003. He is married to Philippa and they have three children at the student/post student stage. Martyn leads An SDF church revitalisation project from St George’s with a vision to resource church growth in Spalding and Grantham in south Lincolnshire. He is currently rural dean of Stamford, a member of General Synod and a canon of Lincoln Cathedral. Martyn enjoys classical music and following the exploits of AFC Bournemouth.
Ben joined the team in 2020, supporting Martyn in the day to day running of the church and leading the staff team. He is married to Lenny and they have two children. Ben has a heart to see people who don’t know Jesus turning to him in faith, and seeing people maturing as disciples of Jesus Christ. In his spare time, Ben enjoys the outdoors (fishing, walking, camping) and anything techie (computers and gadgets).
Lorraine joined the staff team in 2018 and oversees our Alpha outreach. She worked for 32 years in the IT industry and served as a lay minister for many years before getting ordained in 2014. She has a heart for seeing people come to know Jesus and growing in their faith. She enjoys travel, walking her lovely dog Cocoa, and relaxing over a coffee with friends.
Richard joined the staff team at the beginning of July 2018 with particular responsibility for pastoral care and small groups. He is married to Sally and they have two boys. Before coming to St. George’s and beginning full time ministry, Richard was an elder at Bourne Baptist Church and worked as a Modern Languages teacher in Stamford and Spalding. He studied at Mattersey Hall Bible College for two years in preparation for joining the church staff team and in Sept 2020 began training for ordained ministry within the Church of England at St. Mellitus college. Sally teaches Modern Languages at Spalding High School. In his spare time Richard enjoys music and sport.
Children’s and Family Minister
Liz has been the Children and Families Minister since 2019. A paediatric nurse for thirty years, she has spent her career working with children and families and is delighted to be serving the families of St George’s and sharing her faith in a child-centred way. She is mum to three grown up children and two dogs With her daughter Mo, she runs a small charity called Starfish supporting children and families and spends her summers taking teams of people out to Uganda.
Alice joined the staff team in August 2020 after working as a Civil Engineer. Alice has a passion to point young people towards Jesus and empower them to grow as disciples of Him. She is currently studying for a degree in Theology at St Mellitus College and loves to engage in a theological discussion over a cup of tea. Alice is a competitive swimmer, enjoys reading anything and everything and follows West Ham FC (which brings slightly less joy!).
Debs joined the staff team as Pastoral Worker in July 2016 having previously worked as a counsellor in private practice. She is married to Phil and they have 2 grown up children. Debs has a heart to see people saved, healed and delivered. She enjoys music, reading, long walks in the countryside and charity shops.
Liz has been at St George’s for over 11 years and became a churchwarden in 2013. She is married to Simon who teaches at Stamford School and is a worship leader at church. They have two boys. Liz is a Barrister who has been working in-house for the Crown Prosecution Service for over 15 years, and has just become a trustee of New Wine. She is a keen runner.
Jaish and his family moved to Stamford in 2016 and have been active members of St George’s since. He is married to Carolyn, a languages teacher at Brooke Priory School in Oakham and they have two boys, Henry and Archie. Jaish is a GP and Medical Leader who has recently left the Regular Army after 22 years, although he still has a Senior Leadership role in the Reserves which he combines with clinical work in the local area. Jaish is a keen mountaineer, time expired rower and enthusiastic skier.
Keith had an international career as a statistician in a management consultancy company. His wife Chris (a teacher of the deaf) was christened, confirmed and married (to Keith) in St George’s. The life plan was always to retire here – realised in 2013. Keith likes anything to do with numbers, maps and audio visual, as well as teaching in Children’s Church.
Clare joined the staff team in June 2018 in the role of Operations Manager after many years working in industry. She is responsible for overseeing all the activities and operations that will facilitate the smooth running of St George’s church, the Hub office team, HR, church policies and compliance. Clare has been at St George’s for 27 years where she has been a volunteer in Youth and Children’s ministry since the 90s.
Becky joined the staff team in October 2018. She has had a varied career in administration which has included working in central and local government, charities, inner London schools and the private sector. She has been married to Colin for 25 years. Becky moved to Stamford in 2011 from London but spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in mid Norfolk. Prior to joining St George’s she led a project to develop and improve the All Saints’ Church Centre for community use. In her free time she enjoys photography, walking and reading.
Joseph joined the staff team in 2016. He is originally from Stamford and returned to the town after studying Theology and Evangelism at university. Prior to that he completed a certificate in Christian Youth Ministry (JNC Youth Support Worker) with the Diocese of Peterborough. When time allows he enjoys watching a good TV drama and spending time with friends.
Fresh Hope Project Coordinator
Louise oversees the Fresh hope ministry at St Georges church. She is married to Adrian and they have two young children. Louise has previously worked as a Youth project co-ordinator, and as a programme facilitator to reduce reoffending in Prison.
CAP Centre Manager
Simon has been on the church staff since October 2011 when he became the manager of the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) centre. He is married to Jayne, a primary school teacher, and lives in Spalding. He has three children and four young grandchildren. Apart from his passion to help those struggling with debt he also travels around the east region presenting about CAP’s ministries to agencies. He is a lifelong fan of Tottenham Hotspur and enjoys trying to keep fit at a local gym. He also enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Discipleship Year Student
Lilian joined the staff team in October 2019 as a Discipleship Year Student, after taking part in the Starfish project in Uganda. She has previously studied Forensic Science at college and worked in a Christian bookshop in Southend. She has a bearded dragon called Luna, and enjoys painting, TV crime dramas, eating cake and spending time with friends and family.

Mark joined the team in November 2019 and is a Discipleship Year student, with the aim to get a full experience of the different ministries that St Georges offers. He finished 6th form in the summer of 2018 and, after deciding that accountancy work wasn’t for him, is looking for what God has in store. Mark enjoys all sports, particularly football (following Norwich City to the bitter end).
Discipleship Year Student
Mo started the New Wine Discipleship Year in September 2020 and supports the creative media work at St George’s. Mo is a theology student from Regents Theological College and joined the team as part of her gap year. Previously, Mo worked as an actor and musical theatre teacher but now focuses on worship leading and being a vocal coach in her spare time. She is passionate about international mission, specifically in Western Uganda and enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Mabel and Gwen.
Community Support Advocate and Administrator
Sarah joined the staff team in April 2021. Sarah’s responsibilities are community links coordinator in supporting Simon Jary and CAP and community advocate for both Simon Jary and Louise Rose, supporting them in their roles with admin and other duties. Sarah also looks after the reception area in the hub, answering the telephone and signposting queries on to the staff team. Sarah has been a member of St George’s church for well over 20 years, is married to Peter and has quite grown children. Sarah is really excited to see what God has in store as the role grows and further develops.
