Sunday Services at St George’s

Morning Services: 9:15 and 11am
Our morning congregations are for all ages and we cater for those who are 0-90+. We have children’s church and crèche at both services and the children leave for their activities in George’s Place (28 St Mary’s St) after the opening songs and prayers. Our music is contemporary in style led by a band and there is also an appreciation of classic Christian songs and hymns. We always aim to explain and apply a passage from the Bible in a relevant way as a part of our gathering. Prayer ministry is available and we celebrate Holy Communion on the third Sunday of each month.

On the first Sunday of each month we have an interactive all age service where the children and adults stay together for the whole gathering. The baptism of children often takes place at this monthly service.

BCP 8am Holy Communion
This traditional monthly service meets in the chancel of St George’s church on the first Sunday of the month and is led by the Rev John Batty. There is normally no music. From time to time this congregation enjoy Sunday breakfast together after the service in George’s place.

The 4:30 Service
This relaxed afternoon service is led by our Associate Rector Dave Maylor. It is an All Age gathering and from this September the children and young people will stay in with the adults for an interactive talk. The music is guitar led and contemporary in style. The gathering begins from 4pm with tea, cake and chat. Holy Communion is celebrated on the second Sunday of each month.

The 6:30 Service
Our evening service is a spiritual home for our teenagers, for those who like to come a second time on a Sunday, our 20’s and 30’s, and for many who serve in their village congregations in the morning who come for refreshment, encouragement and the Bible teaching. There is a more relaxed feel than the morning. Our Sunday Knight’s (14-18) meet after the service in George’s Place. Music is again contemporary in style, prayer ministry is available and Holy Communion is celebrated on the second Sunday of the month.

King’s Café @ Christ Church: Kings Café is a café style church that meets around tables with coffee and doughnuts and themed activities prepared for the children to do at the table. Music is led by a band and there is an all age Bible talk.

From September the St George’s King’s Café congregation will partner with the Christ Church KC team and meet in Christ Church on the first Sunday of each month at 11:30am. On the other Sundays in the month the St George’s King’s Café group are going to partner with the 10am Christ Church congregation to help re establish Sunday children’s ministry in Christ Church. The third Sunday will be a more informal all age King’s Praise.
