Rector: Martyn Taylor
Martyn has been the Rector since 2003 but has been on the staff at St George’s since 1996. He is married to Philippa and they have three teenage children. Apart from Stamford he has a heart for the Karamoja region in Uganda and makes regular mission trips there. He is a member of the General Synod and a canon of Lincoln Cathedral. Martyn enjoys music (his first degree), running, and following the exploits of AFC Bournemouth.
Curate: Lis Ward
Lis joined the staff in September 2013 during her final year training for ordination. Since June 2014 she has been working full time as a curate. Lis is married to Ian, who has been an RAF chaplain for the last 28 years; they have three grown up daughters and one eccentric cat. Lis loves coffee, music, second-hand bookshops and being outside, especially on the west coast of Scotland.
Curate: Sarah Bird
Sarah joined the team in January 2017 as a curate. After a career in the military, Sarah trained at Trinity Theological College, Bristol and was ordained in Lincoln in 2015. Sarah has a passion for evangelism and mission, having served in the mission field in Africa and elsewhere overseas and the U.K. She enjoys travelling, keeping fit, painting, and walking with her border collie, Pedro.
Director of Children & Youth Ministry: Rachael McIntyre
Rachael has been part of the staff team leading the Children’s Ministry since 2002. She is married to Roy and they have 3 children. She recently completed a Diploma in Children’s Ministry at Cliff College. Rachael is also a Governor at St George’s School. When time allows she enjoys reading, playing violin & piano, exploring new places, spending quality time with friends and eating cake (although there’s always time for cake!)
Associate Pastor: Lawrence Davie
Lawrence joined the church staff as Associate Pastor in April 2012 when he relocated to Stamford from Arbroath. He is married to Alison and has two grown up children (Jackie and Andrew). After an early career in banking he studied for ministry in Aberdeen in the early 80’s and was a founding elder of City Church in Aberdeen. Since then, Church leadership and business management have operated in parallel with a particular passion for leadership development in business and the development of small group networks in Church. Following a demanding roll as a Managing Director it became clear that he was being led to focus on Church ministry.
Pastoral Worker: Deb Jones
Debs joined the staff team as Pastoral Worker in July 2016 following on from her work as a self-employed counsellor in private practice. She is married to Phil who works for the Methodist Church in Stamford and Rutland. They have 2 grown up children, Abby and Nathan. She enjoys music, reading, long walks in the countryside and charity shops.
Churchwarden : Liz Fell
Liz has been at St George’s for 6 years and became a churchwarden in 2013. She is married to Simon who is the Deputy Head Teacher of William Hildyard C of E Primary School in Market Deeping, and also a worship leader in the church. They have 2 boys (7 and nearly 5). Liz is a Barrister who has been working in-house for the Crown Prosecution Service for over 10 years. She is a keen runner and has completed 10ks and half marathons.
Churchwarden: Neil Joubert
Neil and his wife Dalene and their two children moved from South Africa to Peterborough in 1993 and they have lived there since. They worshiped at St John’s in Werrington for 17 years and at St George’s for the past three years. Neil is a self-employed management consultant and interim executive, mainly in the not-for-profit sector while Dalene is an MRI radiographer at Peterborough City Hospital. Neil joined the PCC in 2012, became church warden in 2014, is a home group leader and is involved in daytime Alpha leadership. His passion is promoting authentic discipleship after the example of Jesus. He enjoys photography and keeping fit.
Treasurer: Keith Roberts
Secretary: Alison Davie
Alison joined the staff at St George’s as secretary in December 2013. She is married to Lawrence and they have two grown up children and one grandchild. Alison loves living in Stamford and being part of St George’s family. She is involved in the AV team and supports Alpha by preparing the meal along with a small team. Weekends are mainly spent with family or by exploring Stamford and the surrounding area with Lawrence.
Safeguarding Administrator: Fiona Baugh
CAP Centre Manager: Simon Jary
Simon has been on the church staff since October 2011 when he became the manager of the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) centre. He has three children and four young grandchildren. Apart from his passion to help those struggling with debt he also travels around the east region presenting about CAP’s ministries to agencies and other churches. He is a lifelong fan of Tottenham Hotspur and enjoys trying to keep fit at a local gym. He also enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Assistant Children’s & Youth Worker: Amy Thompson
Amy joined St George’s Church in 2014 after studying Educational Psychology. She begin with a year exploring and serving in different areas of ministry within St George’s. She enjoys exploring new places, particularly places with coffee shops, singing and occasionally climbing the odd mountain if she finds a willing participant!!
Children’s and Youth Intern: Rosy McCaffrey
Rosy recently graduated from university after studying Mathematics and has joined St George’s Church this year to explore and serve in different areas of ministry within St George’s. She enjoys dress-making and art , exploring new places by cycling, and photography with Friends and family.
Ministry Assistant: Joseph Caseley
Joseph originally from Stamford and has recently returned to the town, after studying Theology and Evangelism at university.Before going to university he studied a level 3 in Christian Youth Ministry (JNC Youth Support Worker). He has joined St George’s Church this year supporting the children’s & Youth Ministry, and the administration of the church. He enjoys watching a good TV drama and spending time with friends.
